RECOG: Research Environment for Comparative Genomics (tentative version)

This is a tentative site for downloading the RECOG system, a workbench for large scale comparative genome analysis.

RECOG client (Java)

• Requirements: Sun Java SE (either JRE or JDK) 1.4 or higher.
• Mac Version
  1. Download the RECOG client installer for MacOSX
  2. Invoke the downloaded installer, which installs the RECOG client program in /Applications folder.
  3. Invoke the RECOG client (which creates RECOG folder in your home direcoery).
• Windows Version
  1. Download the RECOG client installer for Windows
  2. Invoke the downloaded installer, which installs the RECOG client program in \Program Files\RECOG folder.
  3. Invoke the RECOG client from the Start menu (which creates RECOG folder in your home directory).
• Linux Version
  1. Download the RECOG client installer for Linux
  2. Unpack the downloaded file in an appropriate directory by tar xvfz recog-client*.tgz.
  3. Set the JAVA_HOME environmental variable to the path where you installed the JDK/JRE package (e.g. setenv JAVA_HOME /usr/java/jre1.5.0).
     Alternatively, you can directly specify the JAVA_HOME variable in the recog.sh script.
  4. Invoke the RECOG client by ./recog.sh (which creates RECOG folder in your home directory).

RECOG server package (Unix)

• You need to install the RECOG server on your local machine only when you want to use genome data that are not avialble on the MBGD server.
  
• Supported platforms: Linux and Darwin (MacOSX).
• Requirements: Perl, MySQL, Apache, BLAST etc. See the document for details.
